In the first incident, at around 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 9 in Westbury, the victim was followed by the man, identified as Selvin Ortiz, while walking home from Park Elementary School in Westbury, police said.
While the victim was walking on Prospect Avenue at Kinkel Avenue, Ortiz was slowly following her and physically motioned for her to get into his vehicle, according to police.
The other incident happened at around 10:20 a.m. on Thursday, July 11. That victim was followed by Ortiz while she also walked home from Park Elementary School in Westbury and was approached at Sylvester Street and Park Avenue, police said. Ortiz followed the victim in his vehicle and motioned for her to get into his car, according to police.
Both girls were in fear of their safety and called the police. A subsequent investigation by detectives led them to the identity and location of Ortiz, who was placed under arrest.
Ortiz has been charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and stalking. He will be arraigned on Thursday, July 18 at First District Court, Hempstead.
